PTA Lifts TikTok Ban

Finally, PTA Lifts TikTok Ban in Pakistan after 10 Days. Previously, PTA banned TikTok in Pakistan on October 9, 2020. But now PTA unbanned TikTok in Pakistan. This ban was driven by the unethical and immoral material on the platform. PTA tweets regarding lifting the ban over TikTok with certain conditions. Below is the PTA official statement via Twitter.

Furthermore, PTA states that:

We banned TikTok because app management did not follow the local rules and regulations. So, irrespective of several reminders, TikTok management did not pay attention to the gravity of the matter. Finally, PTA has to ban the app in-country and the ban would remain as long as management does not comply with the local and government laws

It is worth mentioning that after the ban of TikTok, PTA received a huge lash back from the public specially TikTok fans. However, PTA received applause from many people as well.

PTA states that they were in close coordination and communication to resolve the anomalies and restore the app in Pakistan.

However, PTA lifts the ban after receiving the consent of the app management that immoral and unethical material will be filtered. Furthermore, accounts sharing vulgar and immoral content would be banned. Failing to these guidelines would lead to reinstating the ban.

TikTok Will Observe Local Laws

Meanwhile, TikTok spokesperson states that:

We are happy that PTA lifts the ban on TikTokk in Pakistan. So, we appreciate the PTA’s commitment to progressive productive dialogue. Happily, PTA shows great concern and recognizes the care for the digital experience of Pakistani users

Furthermore, referring to the local and communal laws and regulations, the spokesperson states that:
