Owing to current criticism, Tania Aidrus Resigns from the status of special assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan. It is worth mentioning that Tania Aidrus was working for Pakistan since the 5th of December, 2019. She was leading the Digital Pakistan initiative after resigning from Google and returning to Pakistan. However, Tania Aidrus holds dual nationality. She holds Canadian citizenship along with Pakistani citizenship. So, recent criticism leveled against her on account of her dual nationality made her resign from the key post in Pakistan.

Announcing her resignation on Twitter, the ex-Google executive said,
The criticism levied towards the state as a result of my dual nationality status is clouding the motive of Digital Pakistan. In the broader public interest, I have submitted my resignation from the SAPM post. However, I will continue to serve my country and Digital Pakistan Vision to my best ability
However, Tania Aidrus took this decision after the SAPM faced huge criticism for having dual nationality along with some other special advisors and assistants to Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Furthermore, in her resignation letter, she said,
It had been great honor and privilege to serve Prime Minister’s vision of Digital Pakistan
Further, she added,
I came back to Pakistan with the single intention to develop and contribute to the vision of Digital Pakistan. This concept always voiced and I share
She further said that,
I always was and shall be a true Pakistani
It is noticeable that Tania was among the few SAPMs holding a dual nationality status. However, this SAPM came under the beam of strict criticism after disclosure of assets and belongings of all SAPM. The opposition hit out at the PTI government after announcing the details about all special advisors and assistants.
In this context, Tania said,
I strongly believe that the recent discourse in the public circle regarding my Canadian nationality, which is a result of my birth and not an acquisition of choice, is a distraction to my ability to execute on the long-term vision for Digital Pakistan
In her resignation letter, she further said that,
It is very unfortunate and disappointing that a Pakistani’s wish to serve Pakistan is surrounded by such issues
However, in the end, she said to Imran Khan that,
I shall continue to serve your vision and Pakistan via initiatives in the private as well as in public domain, where possible for me
